  • Abstract:

This chapter addresses the reconfiguration and transformation of the school curriculum in Chile based on the principles of the critical communicative perspective. In contrast to historically technocratic, standardized, and centralized curriculum models, it proposes a critical interpretation that integrates social justice, horizontal dialogue, and the promotion of the common good and the intrinsic dignity of the human person. Through a theoretical framework informed by the contributions of Paulo Freire, Henry Giroux, Jürgen Habermas, Ramón Flecha, Basil Bernstein, Shirley Grundy, and Rolando Pinto, in harmonic dialogue with a humanistic and comprehensive vision of education, this chapter analyzes how pedagogical codes, deliberative rationality, and contextualized praxis enable the redesign of the school experience in contemporary Chile. Using a qualitative methodology involving a systematic literature review and documentary analysis, this study examines recent academic scholarship from the past 10 years and national curriculum policy reports. The results suggest that the integration of dialogic learning and the flexibilization of pedagogical codes provides substantive guidance for a profound curricular transformation grounded in socio-educational justice, solidarity, and full human development within the Chilean system.
