ESCUELAS DE NEGOCIOS LATINOAMERICANAS: BRECHAS Y OPORTUNIDADES EN INVESTIGACIÓN SOBRE SOSTENIBILIDAD
Las Escuelas de Negocios en Latinoamérica (EN-LA) enfrentan el desafío de alinear su producción intelectual con la Agenda 2030 de las Naciones Unidas y sus Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS). Ante lo cual, el estudio determina las brechas estructurales y oportunidades estratégicas en investigación sobre la sostenibilidad en estas instituciones. Mediante la disciplina de la informetría se estudia el comportamiento cuali-cuantitativo de la producción científica registrada en SCOPUS durante el período 2020-2025. Asimismo, desde una investigación descriptivo-exploratorio se analizan indicadores de productividad, distribución geográfica, orientación temática e impacto científico. Los hallazgos revelan un crecimiento del 267% en la capacidad investigativa, una concentración del 80% de la producción en cuatro países y una brecha persistente: solo el 5,15% de las publicaciones aborda explícitamente dimensiones de sostenibilidad. Los resultados fundamentan lineamientos para fortalecer el modelo de investigación, innovación, desarrollo y transferencia (I+i) que aporten a la sostenibilidad desde las EN-LA, como valor distintivo que contribuye a proyectar el desarrollo y gestión de las organizaciones en la región.

Abstract:
Business schools in Latin America (BN-LA) face the challenge of aligning their intellectual output with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Considering these factors, this study identifies structural deficiencies and strategic opportunities in sustainability research at these institutions. Using the discipline of informetrics, the study examines the qualitative and quantitative patterns of scientific output recorded in SCOPUS during the 2020–2025 period. Furthermore, through descriptive-exploratory research, the study analyzes indicators of productivity, geographic distribution, thematic focus, and scientific impact. The findings reveal a 267% increase in research capacity, a concentration of 80% of output in four countries, and a persistent gap: only 5.15% of publications explicitly address aspects of sustainability. The results provide a basis for guidelines to strengthen the research, innovation, development, and technology transfer (R&I) model that contributes to sustainability through EN-LA, as a distinctive value that helps shape the development and management of organizations in the region.
