El PROCESO DE INTEGRACIÓN MÉXICO / ESTADOS UNIDOS: DINÁMICA DEL TERRITORIO Y EL ESPACIO HACIA LA CONFORMACIÓN DE UNA REGIÓN INTERMEDIA
La reconfiguración de la economía mundial pasa por los distintos continentes, bloques de países, regiones binacionales, regiones transfronterizas y países. Así, en América del Norte, México, Estados Unidos y Canadá experimentan un proceso de restructuración del proceso de integración económica y social, a través de los cambios promovidos en el tránsito del Tratado de Libre Comercio de América del Norte (NAFTA/TLCAN) al Tratado México, Estados Unidos, Canadá (USMCA/T-MEC). En este regionalismo, la dinámica de integración asimétrica y subordinada entre México y Estados Unidos incorpora cada vez más elementos que profundizan la relación en las siguientes variables: intercambio comercial, inversión, población, migración, mercado laboral, seguridad y política económica. Si bien esto tiene una perspectiva macroeconómica, es en las expresiones del espacio, el territorio y los flujos migratorios donde se observan con mayor nitidez. El objetivo de este capítulo es aportar información y análisis para demostrar cómo en el proceso de integración entre México y Estados Unidos existen espacios y territorios donde la dinámica de la integración es cada vez más profunda, compleja y multidimensional. La metodología utilizada con una visión histórico – estructural combina lo deductivo con lo inductivo y se analiza con base en fuentes que incluyen observación de campo, documentos, literatura escrita sobre el tema y estadísticas. Los resultados detectados, dan cuenta de que independientemente de la impronta del gobierno de Donald Trump en Estados Unidos respecto a los saldos de la conexión con México, los hechos y las evidencias cuantitativas y cualitativas evidencian una dinámica donde entre ambos países se avanza en la configuración de una mega región intermedia, una especie de tercer país, con delimitaciones geográficas muy ostensibles.

Abstract:
The reconfiguration of the global economy runs through the different continents, blocs of countries, binational regions, cross-border regions, and countries. Thus, in North America, Mexico, the United States, and Canada are experiencing a process of restructuring of economic and social integration, through the changes promoted in the transition from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA/TLCAN) to the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA/T-MEC). Within this regionalism, the dynamics of asymmetric and subordinate integration between Mexico and the United States increasingly incorporate elements that deepen the relationship in the following variables: trade, investment, population, migration, labor market, security, and economic policy. While this has a macroeconomic perspective, it is in the expressions of space, territory, and migratory flows where it is observed with greater clarity. The objective of this chapter is to provide information and analysis to demonstrate how, in the process of integration between Mexico and the United States, there are spaces and territories where the dynamics of integration are increasingly deep, complex, and multidimensional. The methodology used, with a historical–structural perspective, combines the deductive with the inductive and is analyzed based on sources that include field observation, documents, written literature on the subject, and statistics. The results identified show that, regardless of the imprint of the Donald Trump administration in the United States regarding the balance of the connection with Mexico, the facts and quantitative and qualitative evidence reveal a dynamic in which both countries are moving forward in the configuration of an intermediate mega-region, a kind of third country, with very conspicuous geographic delimitations.
