  • Abstract:

This article examines the role of know-how as a central strategic resource in firms operating in emerging markets, with special emphasis on Latin America. Through a systematic review of twenty representative academic studies, the main theoretical and empirical models used to measure and value this intangible asset are identified, along with their methodological limitations and gaps. Based on this analysis, a mixed valuation model is proposed, integrating the Resource-Based View (RBV), the VAIC model, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), and longitudinal panel data. The expected results suggest that technical, organizational, and relational know-how have differentiated and statistically significant effects on financial performance (ROA, ROE), innovation capacity, and international competitiveness. The article provides a concrete methodological agenda for researchers in contexts characterized by high information asymmetry and nascent capital markets.
