A pesquisa é qualitativa, bibliográfica e documental.

Abstract:
This article examines the uncritical use of generative artificial intelligence by Latin American youth and its effects on cognitive development and academic authorship. The investigation is organized around two axes. The first examines the cognitive depletion produced when students delegate central stages of intellectual elaboration to automated systems. The second examines the Eurocentric biases of AI systems, developed predominantly from Global North data, which render invisible the cultures, languages and knowledges of Latin America. The research is qualitative, bibliographic and documentary. The results indicate that punitive approaches are insufficient and three pedagogical moves are proposed: making the intellectual process visible and assessable, developing critical curation, and incorporating the debate on algorithmic bias as a formative practice. The central argument is that preparing young people to inhabit the digital culture critically demands shifting the focus from plagiarism surveillance to the formation of how and why they produce.
