CULTURA & DESENVOLVIMENTO RURAL - O TEATRO REGIONAL DA SERRA DE MONTEMURO – PORTUGAL
No início dos anos noventa, mercê de alguma tradição cultural, emergiu na pequena aldeia de Campo Benfeito (concelho de Castro Daire, Serra do Montemuro) uma iniciativa teatral que viria a tornar-se uma figura ímpar no desenvolvimento da aldeia, do concelho e região de Montemuro: o Teatro Regional da Serra do Montemuro. Depois de um período de aprendizagem, a companhia apresenta em 1995 o primeiro espetáculo a nível internacional. Graças ao interesse entretanto despertado pelas entidades que assistiram ao espetáculo, a companhia decide pedir ajuda ao Estado Português, tendo adquirido a partir desse ano um estatuto também profissional. O teatro continua até hoje a ser a fonte de sustento e rendimento para seis pessoas que nele trabalham a tempo inteiro. Adicionalmente, os benefícios da iniciativa repercutem-se na própria comunidade rural, nomeadamente ao nível da revitalização socioeconómica local e a nível ambiental. Prova disto, é o festival Altitudes, os Serões da Serra e as sinergias criadas com toda a população local e ainda a inserção da aldeia na rede de “Aldeias de Portugal”. Baseados numa análise qualitativa o propósito deste estudo é pois o de explorar o contributo desta iniciativa no próprio desenvolvimento pessoal e profissional dos atores envolvidos e o contributo para o desenvolvimento rural sustentável, em particular da aldeia de Campo Benfeito.

Abstract:
In the beginning of the nineties, through a cultural tradition, a theatre initiative emerged in the small village of Campo Benfeito (Castro Daire municipality, mountain of Montemuro) that would become a unique figure in the development of the village, the county and Region of Montemuro: Teatro Regional da Serra do Montemuro. After a period of learning, the company presented the first international show in 1995. Thanks to the interest aroused in the entities that attended the show, the company decided to ask for help to the Portuguese State, having since then acquired a professional status. The theatre continues to be the source of livelihood and income for six full-time employees. In addition, the benefits of the initiative have repercussions in the rural community itself, particularly at the level of local socio-economic revitalization. Proof of this is the Altitudes festival, Serões da Serra and the synergies created with the entire local population and the integration of the village in the network “Aldeias de Portugal”. Based on a qualitative analysis, the purpose of this study is to explore the contribution of this initiative to the personal and professional development of the actors involved and the contribution to sustainable rural development, in particular the village of Campo Benfeito.
