UN SOPLO DE AIRE FRESCO: LA FIESTA GRANDE DE CHIAPA DE CORZO Y LOS PARACHICOS TRAS LA PANDEMIA DE COVID-19
La celebración de la Fiesta Grande en la comunidad de Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas es una de las principales expresiones culturales de la región. Lamentablemente, su éxito mediático ocasionó que la actividad turística y económica fuera cada día más importante que la misma celebración religiosa entendida como una manifestación de la identidad de esta comunidad. Sin embargo, para el 2023 esta situación cambio. ¿Qué paso? La pandemia de Covid-19, que cercenó duramente la naturalidad del movimiento, imposibilitando los desplazamientos y la normalidad de la interacción presencial. Esta no presencia de personas dejó también en soledad y silencio los espacios y construcciones representativas de los procesos socioculturales. En este tiempo de reclusión, los portadores del patrimonio cultural se reencontraron a sí mismos volviendo a lo importante de sus prácticas. La pandemia del COVID-19 significó para la cofradía de los Parachicos una oportunidad para reencontrarse con la tradición y proponer, desde la valoración de los significados profundos de su práctica, nuevas condiciones organizativas de convivencia entre turistas y comunidad. A través de un análisis de datos obtenidos mediante trabajo de campo realizado pre y post pandemia y entrevistas, se establece cómo la celebración se revitalizó a partir del descanso obligado del COVID-19 que brindo, posteriormente, una mejor interacción entre la cofradía de los Parachicos, las autoridades locales y los vendedores turísticos.

Abstract:
The celebration of the Fiesta Grande in the community of Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas is one of the main cultural expressions of the region. Unfortunately, its media success caused tourism and economic activity to become more important every day than the religious celebration itself, understood as a manifestation of the identity of this community. However, by 2023 this situation changed. What happened? The Covid-19 pandemic, which severely curtailed the naturalness of movement, making travel and the normality of face-to-face interaction impossible. This lack of presence of people also left the spaces and buildings representative of sociocultural processes in solitude and silence. In this time of confinement, the bearers of cultural heritage rediscovered themselves by returning to the importance of their practices. The COVID-19 pandemic meant for the Parachicos brotherhood an opportunity to reconnect with tradition and propose, from the appreciation of the deep meanings of their practice, new organizational conditions for coexistence between tourists and the community. Through an analysis of data obtained through fieldwork before and after the pandemic, and interviews, we establish how the celebration was revitalized after the forced COVID-19 break, which subsequently provided better interaction between the Parachicos brotherhood, local authorities, and tourist vendors.
