No aporta respuestas definitivas. Deja al lector esa tarea.

  • Abstract:

The goal of this paper is to illustrate scientists’ humanization, socialization and education process. It is justified because of a widespread social representation called The White Robe. It shows students’ opinions regarding scientists and science, highlighting their attitude of rejection towards scientific endeavors. Another reason is the psychologization of education; being significative because it omits historic political, cultural and, economic determinations; because it only holds responsible students’ success or failure individually. The existing civilizational crisis doesn’t consider them as well. That way, school’s reality becomes depoliticized. To face differently the humanization of scientists, in the essay it is expressed what to understand by humanizing, socializing and educating, then, two social theories support it: Functionalism and Marxism. They are distinguished by the influence given to society or social classes when humanizing. From the functionalist theory, it analyzes the concepts: society, professional group, solidarity, harmony, to educate, and temporality. With the literary resource of the book Faustus, it shows similarities between times changing and Faustus’ metamorphosis, with what is currently happening when humanizing scientists. From Marxist theory, it comments what to understand by society, social class, exploitation, class warfare, ideology, hegemony, consensus and coercion. It denounces wage gaps of faculty members and, poverty in Latin America; also, it criticizes the progress of right wing Latin American governments. It concludes by encouraging to consider complexity when humanizing: struggle and harmony. Self-formation and group formation. Doubt and create the unseen. The triad past-present-future. Humanizing and doing science for society or for forgotten social groups. Human necessities and nature’s limits. Research and conceptual interests linked with pedagogic traditions. Humanization, produce science and a hegemonic guiding project. It problematizes what was simplified when humanizing according to the White Robe representation and psychologization of education. It does not provide definitive answers, it leaves the reader that task.
