SYAGRUS CORONATA (MART.) BECCARI), ESPÉCIE MULTIUSO NO SEMIÁRIDO BRASILEIRO.
O Licuri é uma palmeira nativa de região semiárida, com distribuição ampla na vegetação da caatinga. Esta espécie é importante para a comunidade rural do semiárido baiano, devido principalmente à obtenção dos produtos florestais não-madeireiros. Este estudo objetivou fazer o levantamento sobre os usos do Syagrus coronata (Mart.) Beccari na área rural de Caldeirão Grande-BA. Foram informados 142 usos diferentes para o licuri, distribuídos em seis categorias: alimento, forragem, medicinal, construção, artesanato e combustível. Em função da diversidade de uso verificada para o licuri, podemos considerá-la como uma espécie de planta multiusos. Verificou-se que o extrativismo de Syagrus coronata em Caldeirão Grande é uma forma de complemento à renda familiar, que necessita ser resgatado enquanto identidade cultural: este estudo demonstrou que, além de não haver conhecimento homogêneo em relação aos usos do licuri pela comunidade, há uma erosão do conhecimento tradicional.

Abstract:
The licuri is a native palm from the semi-arid region, with wide distribution in the caatinga vegetation. This species is important for the rural community of the semi-arid area of Bahia, due to the obtention of non-wood forest products. The present study was aimed to produce an inventory about the traditional knowledge of the uses of Syagrus coronata (Mart.) in the rural area of Caldeirão Grande-BA. One-hundred and forty-two different uses for licuri were found, distributed in six categories: food, lining, medicinal, construction, crafts and fuel. Due to the diversity of use verified for licuri, we can consider it as a kind of multipurpose plant. It became evident that the extraction of Syagrus coronata in Caldeirão Grande is a form of income supplement which can be rescued as a cultural identity: this study demonstrated that, in addition to the lack of homogeneous knowledge regarding community license uses, there is an erosion of traditional knowledge.
