SOBRE SONS E SILÊNCIO: A VISÃO DE INTÉRPRETES VIOLONCELISTAS ACERCA DO SILÊNCIO ENQUANTO TIMING EM MÚSICA
O Artigo apresenta uma seleção de trechos de nove entre vinte e oito entrevistas realizadas com reconhecidos violoncelistas, no âmbito da pesquisa de doutorado intitulada “O Silêncio na Música: uma investigação formal e de performance em obras para violoncelo e piano dos períodos Clássico e Romântico”, desenvolvida junto ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Música da Universidade Federal da Paraíba. O texto dá uma indicação de riqueza do material empírico colhido, assim como da relevância que violoncelistas conferem ao silêncio na compreensão composicional e na construção da interpretação musical.

Abstract:
This report presents a selection of excerpts of nine among twenty-eight interviews that have been realized with notable cellists, as part of a doctoral research entitled “Silence in Music: a research on formal and performing aspects of works for cello and piano of the classical and romantic eras”, developed within the Graduate Music Program at UFPB Brazil. The text shows the richness of the empirical information that has been collected, as well as the importance that cellists have given to silence in musical composition and interpretation.
