QUALITY OF LIFE AND ABANDONMENT: PERCEPTIONS OF OLDER PEOPLE ATTENDING A GERONTOLOGICAL MODULE
Aging is a process where biopsychosocial transformations experienced because of time and lifestyles. In this sense, abandonment is a problem that in many cases affects old age. The objective was to know the perception of quality of life in informants who experience abandonment. To do this, the method to use is interpretive and phenomenologically oriented; a semi-structured interview and the WHOQOL-OLD Questionnaire applied to 10 informants of both sexes with an age range of 65 to 82 years. The results highlight a good quality of life with non-material elements, prioritizing aspects such as emotional balance, inner peace and the sense of belonging, in addition, the relevance of having solid family and social networks so as not to feel alone. It is necessary to design and execute social programs to promote the quality of life of this age group.
