  • Abstract:

Organizational onboarding is an essential process for the effective integration of new employees and their longterm sustainability, especially within digital transformation environments. This study, employing a quantitative and descriptive approach, analyzed responses from 320 workers across various sectors in five different countries. The research evaluated the characteristics of the onboarding received in their most recent positions—including modality and degree of digitalization—as well as its effects on key variables such as motivation, learning, productivity, and technology adoption. To achieve this, constructs from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) were utilized. The results indicate that 85% of participants received some form of formal onboarding, which was predominantly face-to-face and of short duration (8 to 15 days). Findings revealed a considerable reliance on traditional tools such as PowerPoint and PDFs (28.5%), with limited use of emerging technologies like Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, or Artificial Intelligence. The differences between employees with and without formal onboarding were statistically significant across all evaluated constructs, with motivation being the most impacted by its absence. The TAM model proved useful in understanding how employees perceive technology during the organizational socialization process. The study concludes that redesigning onboarding through a hybrid and technologically strategic lens represents a significant opportunity to enhance the employee experience, optimize integration, and strengthen long-term commitment within organizations undergoing digital transformation.
