  • Abstract:

The objective of this study was to analyze the agri-food value chains of the municipality of Zimatlán de Álvarez, Oaxaca, from an organizational and territorial approach, through the development and application of the IDEA methodology, which articulates the stages of Identification, Diagnosis, Strategies and Action, aimed at knowledge management and organizational strengthening. Faced with the limits of the literature, which has privileged productive and market approaches, the research conceived of chains as territorialized organizational configurations whose sustainability depends on the coordination, learning, and collective action of local actors. A mixed approach was adopted that integrated the analysis of official databases, municipal public policy documents, interviews with producers and participatory workshops, developing the stages of Identification, Diagnosis and Strategies, while the Action phase was conceived as a later stage, not implemented in this study. Overall, the study confirmed the usefulness of the IDEA methodology as a replicable tool for the analysis and organizational strengthening of agri-food value chains in rural contexts.
