IMPACTO DA PANDEMIA NA VIVÊNCIA ACADÉMICA DE ESTUDANTES DO ENSINO SUPERIOR: DESAFIOS PARTICULARES DOS/AS ESTUDANTES INTERNACIONAIS
A Pandemia devido à SARS COV2 gerou situações de grande vulnerabilidade. À semelhança do que aconteceu a nível mundial, nas Instituições de Ensino Superior portuguesas a interrupção das atividades letivas e académicas presenciais confrontou a comunidade estudantil com um conjunto de desafios e oportunidades de ordem e amplitude variadas. Aprenderam a usar-se ferramentas digitais, reequacionaram-se posturas, relações, formas de aprender e de ensinar, modos de viver num quotidiano (mais) circunscrito e distinto do de outrora. Os reptos que se viveram no período pandémico foram especialmente difíceis de gerir para os/as estudantes internacionais, particularmente para aqueles/as que vivenciavam situações de vulnerabilidade socioeconómica e/ou cujas realidades de origem eram longínquas e difíceis de aceder. Num país diferente, estes/as viram-se obrigados/as a circunscrever a sua realidade e residência, muitas vezes sem quaisquer referenciais socioculturais nem redes de apoio, pela limitação das interações e pela imobilidade territorial que se impunha. Germinaram sentimentos de angústia e de perda justificados por um cenário de dúvidas, indeterminações e condicionamentos quanto ao curso que se sucederia seja na sua realidade académica ou na da sua vida quotidiana. Muitos/as estudantes acabaram por ser confrontados/as com a inevitabilidade de redefinirem opções e projetos, particularmente aqueles que remetiam para a continuidade dos seus estudos no Ensino Superior; tais como o prolongamento da sua estadia na cidade que os/as acolhia; ou a ressignificação dos (novos) sentidos ao seu dia-a-dia. Mitigado o risco de contágio pelo vírus da COVID-19, voltou-se a uma normalidade pré-pandemia. A vida académica voltou a acontecer em regime presencial e a mobilidade dos estudantes foi reativada. O trabalho em apreço visa espelhar as perspetivas das autoras, enquanto membros da academia, com atividades docente e de psicologia clínica, sobre as vivências dos/as estudantes no período pandémico e pós pandémico nas instituições de Ensino Superior às quais se encontram vinculadas.

Abstract:
The Pandemic due to SARS COV2 generated situations of great vulnerability. Similarly to what happened worldwide, in Portuguese Higher Education Institutions, the interruption of face-to-face teaching and academic activities confronted the student community with challenges and opportunities of varying order and magnitude. Digital tools were learned, and attitudes, relationships, ways of learning and teaching, and ways of living in a (more) circumscribed and different daily life than before were rethought. The challenges experienced during the pandemic periods were especially difficult for international students, particularly those who presented socioeconomic vulnerability or whose realities of origin were distant and difficult to access. In a different country, they were forced to circumscribe their reality and residence, often without any social and cultural references or support networks, due to the limitation of interactions and the imposed territorial immobility. Feelings of anguish and loss germinated, justified by doubts, uncertainties and constraints regarding the course that would occur in their academic reality or daily lives. Many students were even confronted with the inevitability of redefining options and projects, particularly those that referred to the continuity of their studies in Higher Education, the extension of their stay in the city that welcomed them, the (new) meanings of their daily life. Once the risk of contagion from COVID-19 was mitigated, the pre-pandemic normality returned. Academic life returned to face-to-face contact and student mobility was reactivated. This paper aims to reflect the perspectives of the authors, as members of the academy, with teaching and clinical psychology activities, on students’ experiences in the pandemic and post-pandemic period in the Higher Education institutions to which they are linked.
