¿EVOLUCIÓN O CREACIÓN? DARWIN, CREACIONISMO Y LOS LÍMITES DE LA CONTROVERSIA CIENTÍFICA
Este capítulo examina críticamente la controversia entre evolución y creacionismo y sus implicancias para comprender la naturaleza del conocimiento científico. El análisis se organiza en tres ejes: la consolidación de la evolución como explicación científica de la diversidad biológica; el examen del creacionismo y del diseño inteligente como propuestas de diferente estatuto epistemológico; y los criterios que permiten distinguir una controversia científica de una controversia social, religiosa o filosófica. Metodológicamente, se sustenta en una revisión de alcance de literatura especializada, desarrollada desde un enfoque cualitativo-interpretativo y mediante un diseño narrativo de tópico. Se sostiene que evolución y creacionismo no constituyen teorías científicas equivalentes, porque difieren en su relación con la evidencia, la contrastación y la investigación acumulativa. En conclusión, enseñar esta controversia exige distinguir entre respetar la pluralidad de creencias y atribuir igual validez científica a explicaciones epistemológicamente diferentes.

Abstract:
This chapter critically analyzes the controversy between evolution and creationism and its implications for understanding the nature of scientific knowledge. The analysis is organized around three axes: the consolidation of evolution as a scientific explanation for biological diversity; the examination of creationism and intelligent design as proposals with different epistemological statuses; and the criteria that allow us to distinguish a scientific controversy from a social, religious, or philosophical one. Methodologically, it is based on a comprehensive review of specialized literature, developed from a qualitative-interpretive approach and through a narrative topic design. It argues that evolution and creationism do not constitute equivalent scientific theories because they differ in their relationship to evidence, testing, and cumulative research. In conclusion, teaching this controversy requires distinguishing between respecting the plurality of beliefs and attributing equal scientific validity to epistemologically different explanations.
