  • Abstract:

The teaching of philosophy faces the challenge of promoting meaningful learning experiences that are aligned with current forms of student engagement, especially given the prevalence of methodologies focused on content transmission. In this context, a previous systematic review highlighted the need to incorporate innovative teaching strategies that foster active participation and the development of critical thinking. Based on this background, this study analyzes the potential of Game-Based Learning (GBL) through the implementation of Dixit. A mixed-methods approach and a longitudinal quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest measurements  were employed. To evaluate the effects of the intervention, the Academic Motivation Scale adapted for Gamification (EMA-G) and the Critical Thinking Tasks Test (TPC)  were used. The results showed increases in intrinsic motivation and argumentative depth following the intervention. The findings highlight the potential of game-based strategies to develop skills relevant to learning. It is concluded that ABJ constitutes a relevant pedagogical alternative for enriching the teaching of philosophy.
