“EL OÍDO SE RECREARÁ CON LAS SUAVÍSIMAS MÚSICAS DE AQUELLAS CAPILLAS ANGÉLICAS”: ANTONIO NÚÑEZ DE MIRANDA, SOR JUANA Y EL PENSAMIENTO MUSICAL
A pesar de que durante décadas algunos investigadores lo han tratado de desacreditar, el jesuita Antonio Núñez de Miranda fue una de las personalidades más influyentes en el México del siglo XVII, y en sus escritos dedicó algunos juicios sobre la importancia y la función de la música en el rito y en la vida celestial. En este capítulo ofrecemos un panorama del paisaje sonoro que se desarrolló durante la vida del religioso, y analizamos algunas de sus ideas en torno al arte de Euterpe, así como las coincidencias y diferencias que tuvo con la religiosa y escritora Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz en cuanto al tema.

Abstract:
Despite the fact that he has wanted to be discredited, the Jesuit Antonio Núñez de Miranda was one of the most influential personalities in 17th century Mexico, and in his writings, he dedicated some opinions on the importance and function of music in the ecclesiastical rite and in eternal life. In this chapter we offer an overview of the sound landscape that developed during the religious’ life, and we analyze some of his ideas regarding the art of Euterpe, as well as the coincidences and differences he had with Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz in terms of the same topic.
