EDUCAR PELO EXEMPLO: INACIANOS E A PRÁTICA PEDAGÓGICA NA AMÉRICA PORTUGUESA (1549-1583)
O trabalho parte da análise de dois documentos do fundador da ordem religiosa Companhia de Jesus, Inácio de Loyola: a Autobiografia e os Exercícios Espirituais; e também tem como fonte as cartas jesuíticas da América portuguesa do século XVI. Nesse sentido, é tomada a característica pedagógica jesuítica do exemplo. Os objetivos dos documentos fundantes consistiam em converter e a alterar radicalmente na conduta moral, religiosa e prática dos sujeitos. Nas terras além-mar: de um lado, os “bons exemplos” dos missionários inacianos; de outro, os “maus exemplos” dos colonos e do clero secular.

Abstract:
The paper starts from the analysis of two documents by the founder of the religious order Society of Jesus, Inácio de Loyola: the Autobiography and the Spiritual Exercises; and also has as source the Jesuit letters of Portuguese America of the sixteenth century. In this sense, the Jesuit pedagogical characteristic of the example is taken. The objectives of the founding documents consisted of converting and radically altering the moral, religious and practical conduct of the subjects. In overseas lands: on the one hand, the “good examples” of the Ignatian missionaries; on the other, the “bad examples” of the settlers and the secular clergy.
