Abstract:
This chapter systematizes, from the perspectives of affective computing and software engineering, the functional and non-functional requirements, layered software architecture, and technopedagogical principles required to design a Virtual World System for Teacher Socioemotional Training (SMV-ESD). The primary goal is to characterize a regulated synthetic environment aimed at fostering emotional self-regulation, conflict de-escalation during critical classroom incidents, and teacher resilience. Recent empirical evidence on immersive simulation in teacher education, adaptive conversational agents powered by large language models (LLMs), multimodal learning analytics (MMLA), and synchronous psychophysiological biofeedback (HRV, GSR, eye-tracking/pupillometry) is comprehensively reviewed. Furthermore, the chapter addresses key challenges regarding the ethical governance of sensitive biometric data, sub-second vocal latency bottlenecks, and technical interoperability standards (IEEE xAPI and ISO/IEC 25010). As an original contribution, the chapter introduces the SEED Model (Socio-Emotional Educator Development Model), a four-stage developmental framework (Sensitization, Exposure, Escalation, and Debriefing) designed to structure progressive virtual-world simulations and lay the methodological foundation for future empirical validation. The chapter closes with future research avenues and an applied agenda for pilot testing the proposed model within teacher education programs.
