ASPECTOS SIMBÓLICOS DO ALEITAMENTO MATERNO
O aleitamento materno exclusivo há anos encontra-se entre as prioridades governamentais nacionais. Embora tenha apresentado progresso, pesquisas indicam que a prevalência do aleitamento materno no Brasil segue abaixo do recomendado. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo fazer uma reflexão sobre a representação simbólica do seio e seu espaço na cultura brasileira, ressaltando a importância da amamentação e a influência que o meio sociocultural estabelece no período do aleitamento materno, sendo grande responsável pelo desmame precoce.

Abstract:
Breastfeeding has been a priority in Brazilian government and its policies. Although it has been showing progress, some researches indicate that the number of women breastfeeding in Brazil remains below the WHO recommendations. The present work aimed to make a reflection about the symbolic representation of the breast and its place in Brazilian culture, highlighting the importance of breastfeeding and its influence in the sociocultural environment which is established in the period of breastfeeding, being great responsible for precocious unwean.
