ANÁLISIS COMPARATIVO DEL APOYO FAMILIAR EN LA ADHERENCIA AL TRATAMIENTO DE LA DIABETES TIPO 2

Introducción. La familia, es el contexto que mayor potencial tiene para afrontar la enfermedad crónica. En la diabetes tipo 2, juega un papel fundamental en la adherencia al tratamiento. Objetivo. Comparar el apoyo familiar y la adherencia al tratamiento en adultos mayores. Metodología. Estudio descriptivo, comparativo, transversal, realizado en 236 adultos mayores con diabetes tipo 2 (118 de una comunidad rural y 118 de un centro de salud urbano). Se aplicaron dos instrumentos. Resultados. Predominó la edad de 60 a 65 años y el género femenino. El 64.4% de la comunidad rural manifestó tener apoyo familiar y el 63% del centro de salud. En la adherencia al tratamiento el 64.4% de la comunidad rural tuvieron una adherencia al tratamiento bajo y del centro de salud el 61% alto. Conclusión principal. Los resultados obtenidos evidencian que el apoyo familiar es determinante para que haya una buena adherencia al tratamiento.

    Introduction. The family is the context that has the greatest potential to deal with chronic illness. In type 2 diabetes, it plays a key role in adherence to treatment. Objective. To compare family support and adherence to treatment in older adults. Methodology. Descriptive, comparative, cross-sectional study conducted in 236 older adults with type 2 diabetes (118, the one Rural Community and 118, Urban Health Center and). Two instruments were applied. Results. The age of 60 to 65 years and the female gender predominated. 64.4% of the rural community reported having family support and 63% of the health center. In adherence to treatment 64.4% of the rural community had an adherence to low treatment and 61% high health center. Main conclusion. The results obtained show that family support is crucial for good adherence to treatment.
